By the Grace of God we are a community of faithful Catholics bringing the riches of the Anglican tradition into the Roman Catholic Church as envisioned by Pope Benedict XVI in his Apostolic Constitution Anglicanorum Coetibus. Formerly a community of the Diocese of Corpus Christi (Texas), we are now part of the Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter, the structure established in the United States and Canada for Episcopalians, Anglicans, and other Protestants wishing to enter into communion with Rome.
Our Pastor, Fr. John Vidal who was ordained a Catholic priest in June of 2012, moved to Corpus Christi in October of 2013 to lead the small "Anglican Use" community that was established in the 1990's in the Diocese of Corpus Christi. Under Fr. John's leadership the community petitioned to become a member of the Ordinariate and moved to the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Chapel on the Naval Air Station, Corpus Christi where Fr. Vidal is currently serving as the Catholic Chaplain (civilian). In his capacity as NASCC Catholic Chaplain, Fr. Vidal also pastors the Catholic Faithful on the Air Station under the authority of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA.
Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel celebrates two Catholic Masses on Sundays. The 9:00 AM Mass uses the Roman Missal 3rd Edition. The 11:00 AM Mass is the St. Anselm of Canterbury Community Mass using the authorized Divine Worship Liturgy, formerly known as the "Anglican Use" liturgy. The Divine Worship Liturgy is the authorized liturgy for use by the Ordinariates which preserves the Catholic traditions of the Anglican Patrimony.
You don't have to have had any association with Anglicanism to attend the 11:00 Mass; all are welcome. If you would like to attend the 11:00 AM Ordinariate Mass, please contact Fr. John to make the necessary arrangements for access to the Naval Air Station..
